Canadian plant-based food and ingredients company Global Food and Ingredients Inc. (GFI) announced its acquisition of Your Fitness Dish Inc., a startup producing plant-based products such as milk and nutritional bars under its brand name “YoFiit.”

The acquisition will enable GFI to accelerate expansion into the high-growth plant-based milk and snack food segments. GFI has plans to launch YoFiit in the US in the coming months.

GFI is a supplier of premium sustainable plant-based food and ingredients, operating in four segments: pea protein inputs, plant-based ingredients, plant-based pet food ingredients, and plant-based consumer packaged goods. The startup purchases crops including peas, beans, lentils, and chickpeas from local farmers, which are processed at its four facilities in Saskatchewan and Alberta before sending to 37 countries across the globe.
