Dutch raises USD 20 million in Series A funding

Funding

Dutch, a subscription-based veterinary telemedicine provider, raised USD 20 million in a Series A funding round co-led by Forerunner Ventures and Eclipse Ventures. The round follows its USD 5 million seed round that launched Dutch out of beta in July 2021, bringing the company's total funding to USD 25 million.

 • The company intends to use the funds to secure its intellectual property and for product development as well as to expand its pharmacy network to allow same-day and next-day delivery. Additionally, Dutch plans to expand its team, increase spend on customer acquisition tools, and expand its veterinary network.

 • The platform is currently available in 18 states including New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and Washington and has served 25,000+ pets through 100 licensed veterinarians to date.

Analyst QuickTake: Founded in 2021—by the founder of the leading multi-specialty telemedicine platform Hims and Hers and Dr. Brian Evans, founder of Coastal Animal Hospital—Dutch managed to secure USD 25 million in two funding rounds within seven months. It offers services that are usually not covered by pet insurance plans such as treatment plans and prescriptions with a focus on anxiety and allergy treatments including itching, tremors, hair loss, diet and nutrition, inflamed skin, and vomiting.
