Ananas Anam teams up with Banatex and Regenerate Fashion to promote bio-based fibers

Partnerships
Industry news

  • Ananas Anam, a producer of patented vegan leather Piñatex, made from pineapple leaves, has collaborated with Banatex, a Swiss-based developer of waterproof fabric using abaca plants, and Brazilian fashion company Regenerate Fashion to form the “FIBRAL Material Alliance” for promoting the use of bio-based fibers.

  • FIBRAL will create an international and unified platform for all plant-based fibers made from materials including pineapple leaves, hemp, abaca, and agricultural waste by bringing together companies that work with both synthetic and bio-based materials.

  • According to the founders, FIBRAL was formed to bring awareness to and promote the use of plant-based fibers and sustainable materials in response to destructive agricultural practices employed by synthetic fiber manufacturers.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Ananas Anam appears to be taking necessary steps to increase the outreach of plant-based fibers as a whole. The company has been quite successful in attracting customers for its bio-based materials. To date, Ananas Anam has collaborated with over 3,000 brands including H&M, Skoda, Hugo Boss, Adidas, Nike, and Hilton Bankside Hotel. The company also reported a 40% revenue growth for 2020.
