  • GrowUp Farms, a UK-based  hydroponic vertical farm that grows salads and herbs, has received an investment of GBP 100 million (USD 136.3 million) from Generate Capital, a California-based ‘green’ investment company, to finance the construction of a new vertical farm in Kent, UK.

  • The new farm will supply supermarkets with  vertically produced leafy greens and salads using the company’s proprietary renewable energy system. The new farm expects to deliver its first harvest by the end of this year.

  • The new farm will also be the first in a series of large vertical farms that the company reportedly plans to build in the UK. GrowUp Farms intends to supply the retail and wholesale markets in the UK using these farms. The company is also conducting R&D at its Agri-Epi Centre in Harper Adams University with plans to expand its product offering beyond salads and leafy greens.
