PlantLab, a Dutch company that develops and operates hydroponic-based vertical farms, has announced that it has raised EUR 50 million (USD 56.1 million) in a funding round led by De Hoge Dennen Capital, a Dutch investment firm.
The funds will support expansion plans to North America and Europe, where PlantLab plans to open new production facilities.
As of date, PlantLab operates 3 vertical farming facilities across 3 countries: one in Amsterdam (1,600,000+ sq ft), one in Indianapolis, US (54,000 sq ft), and one in the Bahamas (area undisclosed). The company currently produces salad leaves, vegetables, herbs, tomatoes, and cucumbers.
