Aviron Interactive, a Canadian connected rowing machine manufacturer, has raised CAD 23.6 million (USD 18.5 million) in a Series A funding round led by Stripes with participation from Global Founders Capital, Formic Ventures, and Mark Mastrov (24-Hour Fitness founder). This brings the company’s total funds raised to USD 23.5 million.
The company intends to utilize the funds to double its team of 36 employees by hiring more engineers and software developers to support product development and broaden its library of entertainment content. It also plans to expand its footprint in the US and invest in inventory to prevent supply chain disruptions.
Along with its funding, Aviron announced the hiring of Amy Curry-Staschke as chief operating officer (COO). Before joining Aviron, she had a nine-year stint at Nike in senior leadership roles. She has also held senior positions at Lululemon Athletica and Burton Snowboards.
Today, Aviron also revealed that it achieved growth of 2,700% YoY in its paying subscriber base and a 700% growth in revenue in 2021.
