Aurora Solar, a solar design software provider, raised USD 200 million in a Series D funding round co-led by existing investors Coatue and Energize Ventures with participation from Fifth Wall, ICONIQ, and new investors Lux Capital and Emerson Collective. The funding follows its USD 250 million Series C funding round in May 2021 and brings the company’s total funding to USD 523.5 million, valuing Aurora Solar at USD 4 billion.
The company intends to use the funds for product development and to expand its team.
The platform has designed more than 7.5 million solar projects across 5,000+ solar organizations including Freedom Forever, Infinity Energy, Sunpower, and POWERHOME Solar.

Analyst QuickTake: The doubling of the firm’s valuation since its last funding round (USD 2 billion in May 2021) may reflect the strong growth it has experienced in terms of its platform usage (2.5 million solar projects executed since May 2021), investor expectations that the platform’s capabilities can be extended, and the launch of its end-to-end sales engagement solution earlier this month to streamline the solar designing process and proposal tools—reportedly funded by the Series C raised in May 2021.
