TeleVet, a web and mobile app solution provider that connects veterinary clinics with pet owners, partnered with Boehringer Ingelheim, a pharmaceutical company, to provide veterinary technological solutions. As part of the partnership, Boehringer Ingelheim invested an undisclosed amount in TeleVet, and Randolph Legg (president and head of commercial business, Boehringer Ingelheim) will be joining the company’s board of directors.
The partnership is expected to expand TeleVet’s services by becoming Boehringer Ingelheim’s preferred veterinary health technology platform in the US. Also, the company intends to use the funds and utilize Boehringer Ingelheim’s commercial team for product development. Boehringer Ingelheim also reported that its existing PetPro Connect (a freemium mobile-based collaborative pet care platform) customers will not experience disruptions in service delivery due to the collaboration with TeleVet.
For the full year 2020, Boehringer Ingelheim reported net sales of EUR 19.57 billion (~USD 22.33 billion), while research and development accounted for 18.9% of net sales at EUR 3.7 billion (~USD 4.2 billion).
