Student safety and device management software provider Securly acquired Rhithm, a student wellness solution provider, for an undisclosed amount.
The acquisition allows Securly to integrate Rhithm’s proprietary wellness platform with its classroom management offering and deliver an end-to-end solution that focuses on student wellbeing. The company also stated that the acquisition supports its overall growth strategy, complements its existing product offering, and strengthens its overall solution.
Founded in 2019 by Josh Knutson and Jake Gannon, Rhithm is the developer of the Rhithm app—a social and emotional learning and mental health tool for K-12 students and staff launched in January 2020. The platform administers a short emoji-based assessment of students and staff across five categories: mental, emotional, energy, physical, and social. Based on the check-in data, an algorithm selects and launches an optimal 1–3-minute video activity or lesson for each student or class, covering areas such as mindfulness, gratitude, character, and empathy. The data is also uploaded onto a dashboard for teachers and districts to track students, classrooms, schools, and districts. As of April 2022, the platform served more than 1.25 million students across 27 states.
