Openpay reports healthy revenue growth in Q3 FY2022; asset quality improves

Earnings/results

  • Openpay, an Australian BNPL player with operations in New Zealand, the US, and the UK, released its Q3 FY2022 financial update.

  • The company reported a total transaction volume (TTV) of AUD 94 million (~USD 68 million) in Q3, reflecting a 13% YoY growth. Its Australian and New Zealand (ANZ) operation accounted for the majority (~91%) of TTV in Q3, growing 54% YoY. 

  • The Q3 FY2022 TTV growth was primarily supported by a 17% YoY increase of active customers to 589,000. Active merchants amounted to 4,200, which grew 24% from the previous year. Openpay’s revenue rose 32% YoY to AUD 8.6 million (approx. USD 6 million), while its take rate (revenue as a % of TTV) increased to 9.1% from 7.8% in the previous year. The company also reported an improvement in asset quality with net arrears amounting to 1.8% of TTV, compared to 2.2% last year.
