Finnish startup Puro.earth has given pre-certification to American BioCarbon's CO2 Removal Certificates (CORCs), confirming that the bagasse biochar produced by the sustainable product manufacturer is carbon-net-negative and meets industry standards. Puro.earth offers a carbon trading marketplace and registry for these certificates, and American BioCarbon plans to expand its commercial facility to generate 175,000 CORCs each year by 2024.

This partnership will provide guidance for carbon removal suppliers to get their projects certified by the Puro Standard. This partnership follows Puro.earth's previous partnership with Xpansiv in July 2023 to scale up the carbon removal credits market.
