Hydrogen-based aviation solutions developer ZeroAvia has secured funding in an investment round led by Airbus, Barclays Sustainable Impact Capital, and NEOM. Other investors include Breakthrough Energy Ventures, Horizons Ventures, Alaska Airlines, Ecosystem Integrity Fund, Summa Equity, AP Ventures, and Amazon Climate Pledge Fund. The funds will be used to achieve certification for ZeroAvia's first hydrogen-electric engine, ZA600, which is expected to be commercialized in 2025. ZeroAvia will also use the funds to develop ZA2000, a powertrain for larger commercial aircraft, with flight testing planned for 2024. In addition to the investment, ZeroAvia has partnered with Airbus to collaborate on hydrogen power systems certification and other technical areas.
