The company plans to start operations in 2025, with commercial air taxi operations kicking off in early 2026. Joby has been granted exclusive rights to operate air taxis in Dubai for six years as per this agreement.</p>
 <p>Further, Joby has partnered with Skyports, a UK-based company that specializes in air taxi and drone logistics. This partnership is focused on the design, construction, and operation of four vertiport sites across Dubai. Together with RTA and Skyports, Joby has identified Dubai International Airport, Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina, and Dubai Downtown as the initial locations for launching the air taxi services.</p>

This grant is a part of the California Competes initiative.</p><p>The company intends to use the funds to promote statewide expansion by enhancing Joby’s facilities in Marina, California. The company also plans to boost manufacturing volumes, engage in initial pilot training, and continue recruiting at its San Carlos and Santa Cruz offices.
