Lithion, a Canadian company offering solutions to recycle lithium-ion batteries, has partnered with Hyundai Auto Canada to recycle electric vehicle batteries. This collaboration follows a 2021 agreement that validated Lithion's recycling technology.
The partnership involves Lithion working with over 250 Hyundai and Genesis dealers across Canada to collect, transport, and disassemble lithium-ion batteries. The companies report that the collected batteries will be processed at Lithion's new recycling plant in Saint-Bruno, near Montreal. The plant is reported to be able to process 20,000 tons of batteries annually, recovering 98% of the minerals.
