Siemens and Mercedes Benz partner to optimize energy usage with Digital Energy Twin

Partnerships

  • Siemens has partnered with automotive manufacturer Mercedes Benz to develop a model called Digital Energy Twin. This model is mostly about enhancing energy efficiency and reducing emissions in the automotive production process.

  • The Digital Energy Twin is a digital replication of the physical energy system used in Mercedes Benz's Factory 56 in Sindelfingen, Germany. With this model, both companies aim to analyze and optimize energy usage in different scenarios, which is done by connecting inputs like weather data, load profile simulation, and building asset selection. It helps in making faster and informed decisions to optimize energy efficiency, cut costs, and lower emissions. Using the Digital Energy Twin, they predict potential energy savings of 15%-20% at each production site and an average CO2 reduction of 50% per site.
