Fox has partnered with Polygon Labs, a blockchain infrastructure platform, to launch an open-source blockchain protocol named Verify for securing the authenticity of various media content.
Built on the Polygon blockchain, the protocol is aimed at addressing concerns around the proliferation of deepfakes and misinformation. It enables news organizations to cryptographically sign their content across all media types on the blockchain so consumers can identify which content is from trusted sources.
The company launched the promotional beta version with the GOP primary debate coverage on Fox News, and has authenticated around 89,000 news pieces as of this report. Moreover, the solution will also have potential applications in licensing content to AI vendors for training and serving GenAI models, providing monetization opportunities to publishers.
