Gooddrop, a UK-based cotton vertical farming startup, has partnered with the University of Nottingham to research and develop vertical farming solutions for cotton production.
The company reports that this three-year research partnership includes installing six custom-made cotton research units at Nottingham's Sutton Bonington Campus. The university's plant and crop scientists are expected to work on optimizing cotton varieties for indoor farming, focusing on improving water efficiency and reducing environmental impact. The research aims to inform the design criteria for scaling up indoor cotton farming operations.
