Dematic installs AutoStore system at South West Healthcare logistics hub

Partnerships

  • Dematic, a warehouse automation solutions provider, has implemented its AutoStore goods-to-person (GTP) system at South West Healthcare's Regional Logistics Distribution Centre in Warrnambool, Victoria. The system includes ColbyRACK selective pallet racking for bulky items and serves as a logistics hub for 13 hospitals in Southwest Victoria.

  • The AutoStore GTP system features robots that move through a storage grid to retrieve totes and deliver them to ergonomic pick stations, an automated picking process with order fulfillment capabilities, and a modular design that allows future expansion. The system can store up to 6,500 totes and requires 80% less space than traditional manual racking layouts.

  • The new system reportedly has increased storage capacity from one week to six to eight weeks for high-usage items, reduced picking errors through automation, improved order fulfillment times with same-day delivery for the base hospital, and next-day delivery for regional campuses. The system also includes 24/7 remote IT support and quarterly maintenance from Dematic's Victoria-based service team.
