RIND is a producer of fruit snacks from various fruit peels including strawberry, orange, kiwi, pineapple, and watermelon, as well as coconut rinds. The company mainly upcycles wasted organic fruits sourced from small family farmers in California. RIND sells its products via various methods including redistribution apps (such as Hungry Roots and Imperfect Foods), retail outlets (such as Whole Foods, Wegmans, and Fresh Market), and online via its website or Amazon. The company has been focusing on expanding its product reach primarily across the Northeast US.
As of October 2024, the company’s upcycled snacks were offered across more than 10,000 stores including Whole Foods, Kroger, CVS, Wegmans, and Meijer. It also stated that the products were being tested at Costco and Target. RIND claimed to have saved over one million lbs of food waste by using rinds from pears, kiwis, watermelons, apples, persimmons, peaches, oranges, and coconuts.
