Petcube is an Ukraine-based provider of pet cameras and software solutions aimed at enhancing the pet ownership experience. Its range of products includes 1) Petcube Bites 2, which is a camera equipped with a treat dispenser, and voice control; 2) Petcube Play 2, which features a built-in laser pointer toy; 3) Petcube Bites 2 Lite, which combines a camera with treat dispensing and two-way audio communication capabilities; and 4) Petcube Cam, a smart pet camera that features integrated online vet chat, enabling pet owners to remotely monitor their pets and consult with veterinarians through the Fuzzy Pet Health platform, a telemedicine service, providing convenient access to on-demand pet care. In January 2024, the company launched its first dog wearable that aids in tracking, monitoring, and locating animals, as well as their health. As of May 2023, Petcube products, with over 100,000 users in 18+ countries, were available at 5,000+ retail locations in North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific, as well as online through its official website and Amazon.

It provides a subscription service called Petcube Care, which records action videos triggered by sound or motion and securely stores them in the cloud. By utilizing computer vision and hearing, Care identifies significant events such as pet or human movements and vocalizations to detect any unusual behaviors. Moreover, Petcube Care Membership grants access to a range of products and services from top brands such as Mars Petcare and Wellness, offering cost savings to pet owners. Subscriptions for Petcube Care start at USD 3.99 per month.

Additionally, Petcube offers a pet emergency fund as an alternative to insurance, covering vet bills in life-threatening situations for a monthly fee of USD 29. However, routine vet appointments and non-severe cases are not eligible for coverage.

In June 2017, the company acquired PetBot, a Canada-based developer of PetBot pet camera that combines treat dispensing with selfie-taking, with the goal of advancing AI and machine learning (ML) in connected pet devices and pet care.

Key customers and partnerships

In July 2018, Petcube partnered with renowned dog behaviorist Cesar Millan, combining its technology platform with Millan's expertise in behavioral training to enhance pet well-being, strengthen the bond between pets and owners, and provide valuable insights for promoting happier and healthier pets.

Funding and financials

In October 2017, Petcube raised USD 10 million in a Series A funding round co-led by Almaz Capital, AVentures, and Y Combinator. It planned to use the funds toward expanding product development, marketing efforts, and sales distribution in North America and global markets.
