Brazilian company Tractian offers predictive maintenance hardware and software solutions for machinery, targeting various industries, including food and agriculture, plastic and packaging, automobile, clinical engineering, and consumer goods. In January 2022, the company expanded to the North American market with a new office and a dedicated business development team in Mexico.
Tractian’s hardware comes with two types of sensors: 1) SmartTrac that tracks machine health by measuring high-frequency vibration and temperature signals, and 2) EnergyTrac that measures energy consumption while monitoring faults, which can be embedded in control panels and electrical infrastructure. Tractian has also introduced TracOS, a software solution that enables creation and management of work orders, analyzes data received through sensors to generate machine learning-based diagnostics and recommendations, and inventory management.
Key customers and partnerships
Tractian reported in May 2022 that it served around 200 customers including Bosch, Embraer, Hyundai, John Deere, AmstedMaxion, and Karcher. The company was targeting 600 customers by the end of 2023.
Funding and financials
In May 2022, Tractian raised USD 15 million in a Series A round to accelerate product development and consolidate its position in the global market, with plans to enter the US later in 2022. It also planned to increase the headcount to 200 by the end of 2023. The company claimed that it increased revenue by 400% YoY in 2021.
In August 2023 , Tractian secured USD 45 million in a Series B funding round led by venture capital firm General Catalyst and Next47. The funds were planned to be used to enhance AI capabilities, enlarge its R&D team, and venture into new industrial sectors.
