Lessen

Lessen operates a home improvement platform that aims to simplify the property management process for owners of single-family, multifamily, and short-term rental properties. The platform provides property owners access to a network of home service providers for purposes such as renovation, maintenance, repairs, and cleaning. The platform enables property owners to automate the process of managing home improvement projects and provides dashboards that offer insights and analytics on cost savings, asset performance, and billings.

As of November 2021, the company had around 2,000 home service providers on its platform, spanning over 30 markets across the US. 

In January 2023, Lessen announced its plans to acquire SMS Assist, a residential and commercial property maintenance and improvement platform, for a sum of USD 950 million. Through this acquisition, Lessen planned to leverage SMS Assist’s technological capabilities and offer a broader range of property services. In March 2023, Lessen acquired Blue Skyre IBE, a global facilities management solution, for an undisclosed sum. Through this acquisition, Lessen planned to leverage Blue Skyre IBE’s facilities management expertise and resources to broaden its product offerings.  

In June 2024, Lessen introduced Lessen Copilot, an AI tool aimed at improving property services processes for property managers across different asset classes and geographies. This tool employs GenAI to diagnose issues, recommend service combinations, and automatically generate work orders via a conversational interface. Utilizing over 15 years of proprietary data and millions of work orders, it supports English and Spanish and applies predictive analytics to offer proactive service recommendations based on historical data.
