Founded by former Microsoft staffers, Wiz offers a platform for enterprises to protect their cloud infrastructure. Users can assess a company's entire cloud stack in either a public cloud or on-premises to identify vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, and identity issues. Once integrated with a company’s cloud environment, Wiz’s platform scans the entire cloud stack, including virtual machines (VMs) and containers, regardless of online status. Wiz’s platform does not require organizations to deploy an agent, and supports public cloud providers such as Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
In October 2024, Wiz extended its runtime sensor to AWS Fargate and Azure Container Apps, aiming to provide end-to-end visibility and security across serverless workloads. This integration enables real-time threat detection, response, and runtime hunting, even without direct host access, supporting unique serverless challenges like ephemeral task lifecycles and restricted infrastructure visibility.
The company’s product portfolio spans the entire cloud security stack, ranging from cloud security posture management (CSPM), cloud infrastructure entitlement management (CIEM), and cloud compliance platforms to cloud-native application protection platforms (CNAPP), supply chain security, cloud workload protection platforms (CWPP), and data security posture management (DSPM).
In December 2023, Wiz acquired developer collaboration platform Raftt to bolster its offerings for cloud and Kubernetes developers. The company was reportedly in talks to acquire Israeli cloud detection and response platform Gem Security in March 2024, with plans to integrate the firm’s technology into its own platform. The company also confirmed it was in talks to acquire fellow cloud security player Lacework as of April 2024, with the deal expected to close by the end of 2025.
Wiz reported USD 350 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR) for 2023.
