Founded by former Microsoft staffers, Wiz offers a platform for enterprises to protect their cloud infrastructure. Users can assess a company's entire cloud stack in either a public cloud or on-premises to identify vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, and identity issues. Once integrated with a company’s cloud environment, Wiz’s platform scans the entire cloud stack, including virtual machines (VMs) and containers, regardless of online status. Wiz’s platform does not require organizations to deploy an agent, and supports public cloud providers such as Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
The company’s product portfolio spans the entire cloud security stack, ranging from cloud security posture management (CSPM), cloud infrastructure entitlement management (CIEM), and cloud compliance platforms to cloud-native application protection platforms (CNAPP), supply chain security, cloud workload protection platforms (CWPP), and data security posture management (DSPM).
Wiz expanded its product offering in December 2021 to introduce Wiz Guardrails, a tool that allows developers to protect their code by helping enforce security policies and continuously monitor the code for any drift from the predefined policies throughout the production cycle of cloud-native applications.
In December 2023, Wiz acquired developer collaboration platform Raftt to bolster its offerings for cloud and Kubernetes developers. The company was reportedly to acquire Israeli cloud detection and response platform Gem Security in March 2024, with plans to integrate the firm’s technology into its own platform.
Key customers and partnerships
As of February 2024, Wiz claims its solutions were utilized by 40% of Fortune 100 companies. Notable customers included Morgan Stanley, Asos, BMW, DocuSign, Slack, FOX, LMH, AON, Linde, Colgate-Palmolive, Rubrik, and Priceline.
In March 2023 , Wiz partnered with threat detection and response company SentinelOne to provide end-to-end cloud security solutions by leveraging each company’s platform. With their combined capabilities, the joint solution was claimed to detect and remediate cybersecurity threats faster than stand-alone platforms.
Wiz announced an integration with Apiiro, an application security posture management platform (ASPM), in December 2023 to offer unified cloud and cloud security to its customers.
Funding and financials
In February 2023, Wiz closed a USD 300 million Series D funding round at a reported valuation of USD 10 billion, becoming the fastest startup to reach the 10-billion milestone, the largest cyber unicorn at the time. The round was led by Lightspeed Venture partners, and the fresh funds were set aside to expand the company’s team. The company was previously valued at USD 6 billion during its October 2021 Series C, in which it raised USD 250 million.
Wiz reported USD 350 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR) for 2023.
