SAVRpak

Based in California, SAVRpak develops a peel-and-stick patch that can be inserted in food containers to prevent food from spoiling. Founded in 2020, the company provides its patented solutions to restaurants, food delivery apps, and food distribution companies. As of June 2021, the company sold its products via Sysco (a leading food products supplier). The company claims that its SAVRpak pouch reduces humidity by 45% while still keeping food warm (if necessary) and helps extend food preservation by 10 - 14 days. In November 2022 , partnered with Jüsto (Mexico’s first online supermarket), to extend the shelf life of berries by integrating SAVRpak’s packaging.

In January 2021, SAVRpak won the Innovation Challenge, organized by P&G Ventures, and received USD10,000 prize money to fund its expansion. The company has focused on expanding its product reach through retail channels and expects to launch a consumer-facing product by H1 2022, allowing consumers to handle food waste at home. Additionally, SAVRpak also plans to target applications in grocery and agriculture markets. 

In May 2021, the company raised USD 3.5 million in a Series A funding round led by entrepreneur and media personality Mark Cuban (who invested USD 1 million). SAVRpak aims to use the funds to expand its capacity to 50 million units per month ( from 1 million as of September 2020).
