Based in Washington, Zyter, offers internet of things (IoT)-based software solutions across various industries such as healthcare, education, construction, and logistics under its “SmartSpaces” platform. In December 2021 , the company launched an IoT-based smart agriculture platform to support farmers and agronomists with precise crop management decisions.
The system uses sensors to collect data on soil and atmospheric conditions (soil moisture, and nutrient content), and IoT-enabled weather stations to monitor and measure weather conditions (temperature, precipitation, wind speed, and air quality of the crop fields). In addition, using artificial intelligence (AI) and drone-based inspection, the system provides a comprehensive view of the farmland and actionable insights. Farmers can receive the insights on a dashboard or via a mobile app and be alerted on critical farm conditions.
Before launching its solution, Zyter has been operating as a part of the FarmGrid Precision Agriculture Solution program since July 2021 to support developing smart agriculture solutions. Via the program, Zyter worked with Trilogy Networks (which operates a multi-cloud network to collect data for real-time decision making), GrandFarms (an initiative designed to increase collaboration among businesses), and several companies, including GenXComm, Veea, Microsoft, and Intel to develop “FarmGrid” an end-to-end Farm-to-Cloud platform.
