Verdox is an electrochemical carbon capture solutions provider. The company’s proprietary ESA technology was developed at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to remove carbon dioxide (CO2) directly from the atmosphere as well as industrial sources, providing up to 70% energy savings compared to traditional methods. The patented electrochemical process operates on renewable electricity. The company expects to scale up its technology to capture CO2 at a cost of USD 50 per ton or less.
In February 2022, Verdox received a strategic investment of USD 20 million from Norsk Hydro . During the same month, the company also raised USD 80 million in a funding round led by Breakthrough Energy Ventures (BEV), Prelude Ventures, and Lowercarbon Capital. The funds were to be utilized to commercialize the company’s patented electrochemical carbon capture system.
