London-based Imperium Drive offers teleoperation systems designed for autonomous vehicles including delivery droids. Imperium Drive’s system includes both the software for the robot as well as the type of remote operation used by the teleoperator with manufacturers given options depending on the robot’s level of automation. Imperium Drive will then configure the system to either have a human monitor the robots, enable autonomous navigation (via plotting destination points on a map), or have a teleoperator control the robots remotely. The system is also equipped with the ability to operate in low bandwidth conditions. Its integrated artificial intelligence can predict changes in network parameters and automatically change the streaming server to adapt to the network availability as the robot travels.
Key customers and partnerships
In May 2021, the company joined a UK project to launch a 5G network in Milton Keynes to test its technology by deploying several automated vehicles on the 5G network.
Funding and financials
In April 2022, Imperium Drive raised USD 500,000 in a seed funding round.
Key competitors: None comparable (Imperium Drive is the only startup in the Last-mile Delivery Automation space that offers a teleoperation system designed for autonomous vehicles and droids—does not make the units itself)
