Encore, co-founded by American rapper Kid Cud, provides artists tools to create music and perform live with an augmented reality background using its mobile app. The app also enables creators to host conversations with fans, share interactive experiences, and earn through gamified microtransactions in the form of a “clap” feature that allows fans to applaud for USD 0.10. The company keeps 20% from “claps” received and the remainder is paid out to the creator. During its private beta stage, hundreds of artists including SSGKobe, The Cool Kids, Too $hort, and DC the Don performed on the app.
The app launched in February 2022 , having raised USD 9 million in a seed funding round led by Battery Ventures.
