TrendiTech Inc.

Based in Canada, TrendiTech uses AI to develop robotic machines that can produce upcycled ingredients from organic fruits and vegetables. TrendiTech was formerly known as Trendy Vending, which launched a smoothie vending machine in 2020, to produce fresh fruit and vegetable juices. The vending machines were sold to food and beverage companies, entertainment facilities, established franchises as well as shopping complexes. TrendiTech following the name change, has products in the pipeline that support food waste reduction.  

As of October 2024, the company’s products offered were 1) Biotrim, 2) Bioflakes, and 3) Enhanca. The company launched its Biotrim unit and upcycled ingredient Bioflakes in November 2022.  Biotrim is an AI-based robotic mobile unit that can be directly driven to farms or food distributors and allows them to process the food waste onsite into an upcycled ingredient called Bioflakes. The company claimed that its Biotrim unit can upcycle around 300,000 kg of food waste per year and targets farmers, grocery stores, and food service providers for this product. 

Bioflakes can be used in food and also for medicinal and feed purposes and are expected to be sold to bioplastic producers, textile manufacturers, as well as animal feed and soil enrichment manufacturers. The company also offers Enhanca, an upcycled powdered juice mix made from wasted fruits and would be upcycled using its Biotrim unit.  As of October 2024, TrendiTech expected to use Enhanca in its vending machine and launch the machine as a “hydration station” that will provide juice made from Enhanca. 

In March 2023, the company introduced its rescued ingredients product line, consisting of nutritious, sustainable, and long-lasting powders and purees made from rescued fruits and vegetables. Trendi sources its rescued ingredients directly from farm partners in Ecuador, using misfit and unsold fruits and vegetables.
