Illuminarium Experiences (Illuminarium) is an experiential entertainment company building custom-designed immersive entertainment venues that combine motion picture production techniques and virtual reality. The venues (available in Atlanta, Las Vegas and Toronto) showcase filmed content and authentic re-created worlds without wearable hardware. Users are surrounded by a canvas about 350 feet long and 20 feet high with laser projection, spatial beamforming audio, in-floor haptics, scent and lidar-based interactive technologies, and custom camera arrays that provide a 240-degree native field of view.
Its first location, a renovated space, was opened in Atlanta in June 2021 and cost around USD 30 million. The company generates revenue from ticket sales priced between USD 25-50 based on the experience booked.
Key customers and partnerships
Illuminarium’s partners include Panasonic (official technology partner), accesso (ticketing solutions), Strong/MDI Screen Systems Inc, and disguise (media playback systems and video server technology).
Funding and financials
It raised USD 100 million in initial funding from Eldridge Industries in June 2021 to fund the launch of its locations in megacities and mega-tourism destinations globally. The company’s long-term goal was to open 50 venues (renovated and newly built) worldwide by 2026.
