InstantScripts is an Australian telehealth provider that offers several virtual healthcare services. The platform enables Australian patients to consult with local physicians, receive prescriptions for medication, and have medication delivered to a patient’s house or nearby pharmacy. The company also provides additional services such as medical certificates, treatment plans, laboratory services, and specialist referrals as needed.
InstantScripts operates both directly with patients (D2C) and through partnerships with health plans (B2B2C). As of June 2023, the company charged AUD 49 (~USD 33) per virtual consultation, had 1 million+ registered accounts, and collaborated with 2,500+ pharmacy fulfillment partners.
In June 2023, Wesfarmers, through its subsidiary, Australian Pharmaceutical Industries, acquired InstantScripts for a total consideration of AUD 135 million (USD 91 million). The acquisition was carried out to strengthen Wesfarmers’ Health Division, complementing its pharmacy and Clear Skincare operations. Wesfarmers also planned to invest in InstantScripts to drive growth and expand digital health services.
InstantScripts continues to operate under its brand name but as a subsidiary of Wesfarmers. Additionally, Richard Skimin, the CEO of InstantScripts, retained his leadership position.
