Harvest London

Founded in 2018, Harvest London is a UK-based vertical farming company that grows more than 100 different edible plants, including herbs and leafy greens, through hydroponic vertical farming. Harvest London opened its first proof-of-concept farm in Walthamstow in 2018 and later opened its second farm in Leyton in 2020 with the support of Cambridge HOK after crowdfunding through Seedrs and receiving investment from the Future Fund. In early 2022, Harvest London achieved B Corporation certification, a private certification for companies' social and environmental performance.

Harvest London grows a diverse range of herbs and specialty ingredients, supplying them to restaurants and food businesses with reliable delivery schedules and consistent pricing and availability. It uses controlled-environment farming, 100% renewable energy, and no pesticides to provide optimal growing conditions and reduce waste. Harvest London's cultivation management software allows for precise control and full traceability, and its farming techniques use only 5% of the water required for traditional agriculture.

Key customers and partnerships

Pizza Pilgrims joined forces with Harvest London in December 2020 to obtain locally sourced basil and reduce transportation emissions. In September 2023, the company partnered with AgriData Innovations , a Netherlands-based developer of greenhouse monitoring systems, to install camera systems at Harvest's vertical farm in Beddington, London.

Funding and financials

In March 2023, the company secured an undisclosed sum of funding from Foresight Group , the listed sustainability-led alternative assets and investment manager, to build a 140,000 sq ft (13,000 sq m) vertical farming facility in south London.
