Fathom is a free-to-use app that records, transcribes, and summarizes Zoom calls, while allowing users to highlight important points during calls and share them as text and clips over Slack, Google Docs, Salesforce, or email. Fathom was founded by Richard White, founder and former CEO of UserVoice (a developer of customer engagement tools), and is part of the Y Combinator accelerator program as of January 2022.
Whilst being available to all users, Fathom has directed focus partly on heavy Zoom users in sales and customer service teams through its integrations with CRMs including Salesforce, HubSpot, and Close.com. The app generates call summaries and automatically syncs post-call data into the CRMs. As of January 2022, the product had more than 70,000 users on its waitlist and expected to add paid features in the future.
Fathom raised USD 4.7 million in seed funding in January 2022 from a diverse group of investors including Zoom’s Apps Fund; early Zoom investors Maven Ventures, Bill Tai, and Matt Ocko; early-stage VC firms Character, Active Capital, and Global Founders Capital; and CEOs of Reddit, Twitch, and Cruise. The new funds were earmarked for its go-to-market activities and the integration with sales, customer success, and productivity tools.
