Mondee is a travel tech company, operating in multiple segments through various platforms, subsidiaries, and brands. Its platforms include the following: Mondee Marketplace (for suppliers to reach customers through its B2B distribution platform); Global Content Hub (aggregates global sources of content, including airfare, hotels, and events); and Conversational Commerce (enables business teams to communicate with customers). Mondee’s subsidiaries include TripPro, a tours and activities booking platform; TripPlanet, a B2B travel solutions provider; a membership-based travel platform; Avia Travel Services and unpub private-label B2C travel booking engine provider. Mondee’s revenue streams comprise the following: markup revenue, ancillary sales, partner fees, supplier fees, transaction revenue (FinTech transactions), and subscription fees (for consumer subscriptions).
In July 2023 , Mondee introduced Abhi, a mobile-first generative AI platform with integrated multi-party conversational commerce, aimed at personalizing the travel booking process. Abhi offers curated, localized, and personalized experiences to users, equipped with a commerce engine and FinTech tools.
Mondee’s acquisitions included that of B2B travel companies, Consolid and Interep ( May 2023 ), Brazilian B2B travel company, Orinter (February 2023), to expand its position in Latin American markets; B2B travel platforms, Rocketrip (September 2020); online booking platforms, Bookingwiz, LBF Travel (2019) and Hotelwiz (2019); Hariworld (2012); and ExploreTrip (2011). Other acquisitions included that of SkyLink (2011), a distribution channel for airlines, and Cosmopolitan Travel Services, a platform for consolidated airfares and B2B2C website support (February 2020).
Key customers and partnerships
Key customers in terms of travel agents include Signature Travel Network and FROSCH, with key enterprise clients including BMW, Twitter, and FELD Entertainment. Overall, six million bookings are made on the platform annually, reaching over 50,000 global customers. Partnerships for inventory integrations included that with EGB (June 2022) and Arthur J. Gallagher & Co (February 2022). Mondee also partnered with the travel insurance company, Battleface (January 2022), to provide Mondee customers access to travel insurance benefits.
Funding and financials
In FY2021, Mondee reported gross revenue of USD 949 million, reflecting a 116% YoY growth. Transactions grew to 1.3 million, a 30% YoY increase, although it reported a net loss of USD 38.9 million and an adjusted EBITDA loss of USD 5.5 million from the impacts of Covid-19.
