SyncFab started as an online design for manufacture (DFM) interactive supply chain ecosystem platform, connecting various industry stakeholders, including academics, entrepreneurs, designers, engineers, and materials suppliers, with additive manufacturing suppliers. The company has since evolved to offer a manufacturing procurement platform that leverages distributed ledger technology (DLT) to connect a network of suppliers to Fortune 500 companies, providing secure, data-optimized manufacturing on-demand and an efficient way to source high-quality parts. The platform was developed as a response to an economic challenge shared by San Leandro City, identifying idle precision component production capacity and making it available to buyers with a suite of supply chain management tools.
SyncFab also offers a patent-pending parts procurement tokenization solution, which allows parts buyers to tokenize their supplies at their point of production, providing each part with a unique, digital, blockchain-based non-fungible token (NFT) that can be verified in real time, allowing greater transparency and inefficiencies in industrial manufacturing while also helping to mitigate product fraud, isolate recall cost and time using blockchain track-and-trace feature technology, and create custom smart contracts and supplier incentive programs.
SyncFab focuses on companies from industries such as aerospace, defense, manufacturing, automotive, industrials, and renewable energy.
Key customers and partnerships
SyncFab has partnered with the US National Tooling and Machining Association (NTMA) and SwissMem in April 2021, the national representative of the mechanical and electrical engineering industries in Switzerland. Through this partnership, SyncFab seeks to develop blockchain applications for decentralized manufacturing supply chain management.
As a founding member of the US White House-appointed and US Department of Energy (DOE)-sponsored Clean Energy Smart Manufacturing Innovation Initiative (CESMII), SyncFab is part of the dialogue and implementation of DOE-driven standards for data-driven smart manufacturing and clean energy applications in the supply chain.
SyncFab has signed a strategic deal with Lockheed Martin in April 2021, granting it access to SyncFab's secure supplier intelligence platform. The platform connects original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to Swissmem members on SyncFab’s platform, enabling OEMs to match with supplier capabilities across Switzerland.
Funding and financials
In August 2020, SyncFab raised an undisclosed sum in venture funding led by Starburst Accelerator.
