Virtual gastrointestinal (GI) care startup Salvo Health helps patients manage chronic gut illnesses such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), celiac disease, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), dyspepsia, and small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO). The app-based approach provides users with personalized nutrition plans, brain-gut exercises, sleep and stress management, diagnostic testing, and medication.
The company operates a B2C model, charging a membership fee USD 127 per month. Users can sign up after an online assessment and they are matched to a care team consisting of a physician, a health coach, and a care navigator. Users are given a customized care plan for 90 days, after which an effective long-term treatment plan is provided. As of August 2022, the company operates in 13 states across the US.
Funding and financials
Founded in 2021, the company launched out of stealth in August 2022. In February 2024, the company raised USD 5 million in a seed prime funding round. The round was co-led by City Light Capital and Human Ventures. The new funds were allocated towards expanding the enterprise-wide implementation of Salvo's GI care.
