Cellenion, a subsidiary of SCIENION AG (now part of BICO), was founded in 2016 in Lyon, France. The company specializes in controlled cell dispensing technologies for applications in bioprinting and single-cell dispensing. Cellenion's flagship product, cellenONE, is an automated system that combines high-speed robotics, precision dispensing, and advanced imaging for isolating and dispensing individual cells onto various substrates.
Cellenion's solutions enable miniaturization and automation of sample preparation workflows, facilitating applications such as single-cell genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and cell line development. The company's proteoCHIP product line, developed in collaboration with the Research Institute of Molecular Pathology in Vienna, enables reproducible automated single-cell proteomics sample preparation compatible with mass spectrometry analysis.
In September 2022, Cellenion launched the proteoCHIP LF 48, a commercially available solution for label-free single-cell proteomics workflows. This chip, used with the cellenONE platform, allows preparation of up to 144 single cells per run, overcoming limitations of conventional workflows. Cellenion was also involved in developing reproducible skin models, replacing animal testing for the cosmetics industry.
