Founded in 2020, The Planting Hope is a Vancouver-based plant-based dairy company that produces and sells a range of plant-based food products under three brands—Hope and Sesame, Veggicopia, and Mozaics. Its plant-based milk brand Hope and Sesame is the first commercially available sesame milk in the world according to the company and is available at Kroger, Sprouts, Whole Foods Market Canada, Amazon, and via major distributors UNFI and Kehe. Hope and Sesame won the 2021 Progressive Grocer Editors' Pick Award in the "Best New Product" category for its Chocolate Hazelnut flavor. In February 2023 , Hope and Sesame earned the Upcycled Food Association (UFA) certification, making it the first plant milk in the world to achieve this milestone.
Funding and financials
In 2021, The Planting Hope Co. announced the completion of a CAD 9 million (USD 7.1 million) IPO in Canada , selling 22.5 million shares at CAD 0.40 each, bringing the company’s total valuation to approximately CAD 30 million (USD 23.8 million). The company’s shares began trading on the TSX-V, under the ticker symbol “MYLK,” on November 18.
