Source.ag is a Netherlands-based agritech company that provides an AI operating system for greenhouses. The company’s solutions include Source Track, a platform for tracking and improving cultivations; Source Cultivate, which offers cultivation strategies and measures their impact on production and resource usage; and Source Control, a greenhouse control co-pilot that autonomously manages greenhouse systems. The company commercially launched Source Track in the summer of 2022 and had plans to launch Source Cultivate and Source Control in 2023.
Source Cultivate would use a digital twin of a greenhouse facility to create a model of plant biology, predict resource usage, and provide weekly crop yield forecasts. Through its proprietary algorithms, Source.ag simulates plant behavior, enabling the definition and execution of optimal cultivation strategies that consider millions of data points on climate, biology, and resources. Although it primarily concentrates on fresh vegetable segments such as tomatoes and peppers, the company aims to assist all fruit and vegetable growers. Its technology can also be customized for specific cultivars.
Since launching Source Track, the company has initially focused on supporting tomato growers and is used by 800 hectares of tomato farms. Later, in June 2023, the company expanded its application to include pepper and cucumber growers, encompassing 120+ unique varieties. Through the app, growers can monitor multiple generative and vegetative plant metrics, including length growth, head thickness, and the leaf length-to-head ratio. Furthermore, plant measurements like cumulative fruit set, plant load, and fruit development speed are automatically calculated based on these recorded metrics. In March 2024. The company has unveiled Source Irrigation Control, an autonomous irrigation solution that intelligently adjusts irrigation strategy execution in response to changing weather conditions and plant data.
