A. P. Moller Maersk (CPH: MAERSK-B)—also known as Maersk—is an integrated logistics company. Maersk is based in Denmark, with subsidiaries and offices across 130 countries in 2022. Maersk has been listed on the Copenhagen stock exchange since April 2019. It generated revenue of USD 81.5 billion in 2022.
Maersk segregates its operations into five business segments: Ocean, Logistics & Services, Terminals, and Towage & Maritime Services. The Ocean segment includes activities of Maersk Liner Business (Maersk Line and Sealand), together with Hamburg Sud brands (Hamburg Sud and Alianca), as well as strategic transshipment hubs under the APM Terminals brand. The Logistics and Services segment includes inland activities related to Maersk Liner Business, including integrated transportation, fulfillment, and management solutions. The Terminals segment includes Maersk’s gateway terminal operations, while the Towage & Maritime Services segment includes towage services, refrigerated containers business, and offshore supply services.
The US is Maersk's largest market, generating ~24% of its total revenue in 2022, followed by China, Hong Kong, and the UK. Maersk’s financial guidance for 2023 includes generating EBITDA of USD 8 billion–11 billion. The company expects to achieve net zero emissions by 2040.
