Israel-based AIR develops a unique eVTOL for personal air mobility. Its innovative aircraft offers individuals a convenient and efficient mode of transportation for short-distance commuting in the sky, providing an everyday alternative for personal use, which can be stored in most garages and driveways and is suitable for trailer hauls. The company claims that its patented aerodynamic design and flight control system revolutionizes the maneuverability and practicality of electric aircraft, allowing enhanced maneuvering capabilities and increased usability.
Its inaugural vehicle, AIR ONE, is a two-seater to carry an operator and passenger, can go up to 100 miles on a single charge at a maximum speed of 155 mph, and can cruise at 100 mph, according to the company. The aircraft has collapsible wings for storage. In December 2022 , AIR ONE completed its first full forward flight, successfully transitioning from hover to cruise, loaded to full capacity with 1100kg. The test flight took place five months after the completion of its initial hover flights in July. The company intends to relocate the majority of its operations and R&D activities to the US in order to facilitate continued flight testing, development, and collaboration with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for certification purposes. The aircraft was slated to be released to the market by the end of 2024, with a starting price of USD 150,000.
Key customers and partnerships
As of February 2023, the company had secured 300 pre-orders globally.
In February 2023 , the company partnered with The International SeaKeepers Society (an educational organization for members of the yachting community) to provide AIR's eVTOL aircraft as auxiliary equipment. This collaboration aims to expand yachters' reach and access points beyond the capabilities of their yachts.
Funding and financials
Since its inception, the startup has raised nearly USD 20 million in funds, and, as of December 2022, was in the process of raising USD 15 million through an A round of financing, which was expected to close in the first quarter of 2023.
