New York-based Leo Flight (formerly known as Urban eVTOL, LLC) is a startup in the field of eVTOL aircraft that is dedicated to advancing the eVTOL industry. In addition to its flagship eVTOL, the Leo Coupe, Leo Flight specializes in designing vertistops—an innovative infrastructure solution that enables the installation of landing pads on parking centers or rooftops. These vertistops form a network of pads from which eVTOL aircraft can conveniently take off, land, and recharge, ensuring seamless operations.
The LEO Coupe is a three- to four-passenger vehicle that is being developed to handle like a conventional car. Its design ensures compatibility with standard urban garages, providing convenient parking options for users. Moreover, the LEO Coupe can be charged using a regular electric vehicle (EV) charging cable, eliminating the need for specialized charging infrastructure. No additional infrastructure is necessary for takeoff and landing, making it a versatile eVTOL solution that can seamlessly integrate into existing urban environments. With a cruise speed of 200 mph, the vehicle can travel around 250 miles on a single charge (including reserves). Projected initial production was slated for 2026, with a projected base price of USD 459,900.
Funding and financials
As of March 2023, the company had raised approximately USD 580,000 in a pre-seed funding round. The funds were allocated toward financing the assembly of its LX-1 prototype, which features a skeletal airframe equipped with an electric cluster jet propulsion system.
