Recall.ai offers a unified API to create and operate bots compatible with platforms such as Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams, with the ability to access meeting data, including real-time video, audio, and participant activity. The API can identify meeting participants when they speak, join, or leave the meeting as well as during screen sharing. As of January 2023, Recall.ai was in private beta and its API is used by about 50 companies from multiple industries—sales, customer support, hiring, user research, translation, education, and healthcare. Recall.ai is used in different ways, including producing real-time translations through transcribed audio extracted from Zoom and capturing video and audio streams from sales meetings to automatically fill in CRM software.
The key competitive advantage of Recall.ai is its ability to access raw video and audio data from video conferencing platforms and speed up the process of building meeting integrations. When built in-house, this can drive up server and personnel costs due to the large amounts of infrastructure and labor required. Recall.ai deploys a pay-per-use business model by charging customers per minute of audio and video processed through its platform.
Funding and financials
In its latest funding round in December 2022 , the company raised USD 2.7 million in seed funding, which was allocated for the expansion of Recall’s API by adding more video conferencing and telephony system integrations.
