Founded in 2004 by Aaron Skonnard, Keith Brown, Fritz Onion, and Bill Williams, Pluralsight is a technology learning platform for software developers, IT administrators, and creative professionals. Initially providing classroom training, the company moved its courses online in 2007. The platform contains a library of more than 7,500 online courses across technology, design, and business skills.

In 2019, Pluralsight added Flow, a data analytics tool for engineering teams, following its acquisition of GitPrime. The Pluralsight platform is available on a subscription basis with limited free course offerings. The company reported more than 18,000 corporate customers including 70% of Fortune 500 companies as of December 2020.

Pluralsight filed for an IPO on the NASDAQ in 2018, and, in December 2020, reached an agreement to be acquired by Vista Equity Partners and taken private. Vista Equity Partners completed its acquisition of Pluralsight in April 2021 for USD 22.50 per share.

In October 2020, Pluralsight acquired DevelopIntelligence, a provider of strategic skills consulting and virtual instructor-led training for IT, software development, and engineering teams. In January 2021, the company acquired Next Tech, a provider of cloud-based computing environments for providing hands-on learning experiences for developing software development, data science, and machine learning skills. In July 2021, the company acquired A Cloud Guru (ACG), a cloud skills development platform. The acquisition allows Pluralsight to meet the demand for cloud skill development by combining ACG’s certification courses, hands-on labs and sandboxes, exams, and quizzes with its Pluralsight Skills library of cloud courses and hands-on learning experiences.

In February 2021, the company expanded its partnership with Degreed, a professional and lifelong learning platform, that allows Pluralsight’s enterprise users to incorporate assessment data from Pluralsight’s Skill IQ into Degreed’s analytics and gain greater visibility into individual and team technology skills.
