Eider Vertical Farming

Eider Vertical Farming (EVF) is a British hydroponic vertical farming startup that produces pesticide-free leafy greens using 95% less water and 85% less land. EVF’s farms are constructed in standard warehouses, which use industry-standard vertical farming technology to create a growing environment for its plants and produce leafy greens all year round. The company claims that its farms generate 21x higher yield than traditional farming and that its produce is priced similarly to conventionally grown produce.  

EVF sells its produce to the UK mass market and has secured long-term partnerships with leading leafy green producers who supply to UK retail and foodservice markets (names undisclosed).

As of May 2022, EVF operated a vertical farm in Redditch, England, and planned to construct five more vertical farms across the UK by 2024. EVF planned to build these farms next to existing packing facilities to reduce transport costs.

In May 2022, EVF received GBP 50 million (~USD 63 million) from Slate Asset Management, a global investment company focusing on real assets. The funds were to be used to support its plan to construct new vertical farming facilities across the UK.
