Bolt provides “One-Click Checkout” solutions for ecommerce retailers. It offers an API-driven solution that can be directly plugged into an ecommerce site’s existing interface. Bolt’s network serves as an open ecosystem that enables shoppers to create a single shopper identity, which can then be used to shop across a network of hundreds of different platforms, payments, or Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) providers on the Bolt network of brands. The technology also enables retailers to build in additional services, such as alternative payment methods (APM), gift cards, loyalty programs, fraud protection, and order tracking.
In November 2021, Bolt launched its “Remote Checkout” tool, which enables customers to purchase an item directly from the point of discovery instead of getting redirected to another website to make a purchase.
Key customers and partnerships
In November 2021, Bolt acquired Tipser, a Sweden-based checkout technology company, to enhance its technological capabilities. Tipser’s technology allows customers to directly buy products from sites such as online publications, mobile marketplaces, price comparison sites, social media platforms, or search engines.
Bolt’s customers include companies such as Benefit Cosmetics, PrestaShop, Casper, Swissgear, Betabrand, Forever 21, and Polywood.
Funding and financials
In January 2022, Bolt raised USD 355 million in Series E funding (three months after raising USD 393 million in Series D funding), at a USD 11 billion valuation. Bolt earmarked the funds to invest in expanding its team, make strategic acquisitions, and widen its presence into Europe.
