Liberation Labs is a biomanufacturing company focused on providing precision fermentation solutions for bioproducts, including food and materials. The company’s flagship offering, the Bio3 manufacturing platform integrates downstream recovery processes with multiple feed capabilities including sugar, methanol, and glycerine, along with continuous sterilization of media and carbon sources. The platform claims to offer cost-effective, high-yielding, and efficient precision fermentation operations to solve bottlenecks in producing novel proteins.
Liberation Labs broke ground on its first 600,000-liter commercial facility in Richmond, Indiana, in June 2023, with operations expected to begin in Q1 2025. This purpose-built facility includes 150,000-liter fermenters and fully dedicated downstream processing capabilities. The company plans to establish a global network of six facilities, with each location initially having a 600,000-liter capacity and the potential to expand to 4 million liters. The Richmond facility is projected to generate USD 40 million in annual revenue once operational while producing between 600 and 1,200 tonnes of protein annually.
