Linera is a layer-1 blockchain that employs a proof-of-stake consensus mechanism to verify transactions. The network architecture uses distinct parallel chains to improve scalability and it also enables validators to validate and execute transactions across multiple chains simultaneously. Moreover, it allows dApps built on it to communicate across chains using asynchronous messages. In January 2024, it launched a public DevNet to expand its microchain technology to Rust developers.
Funding and financials
In August 2023, Linera raised USD 6 million in a seed funding round led by Borderless Capital. The company planned to allocate these funds for recruitment, expanding its developer academy, launching a devnet and a testnet for the protocol, and establishing a strategic presence in the APAC region.
