Deontics is an artificial intelligence (AI) company that specializes in developing clinical decision support systems for healthcare providers globally. The company has developed a unique AI engine that integrates clinical processes and complex reasoning capabilities. This engine can run pathways both prospectively on individual patient data and retrospectively on batch data, which is a distinctive offering not available from other solutions in the market.

Deontics originated as a spin-out from Oxford University, Cancer Research UK, and University College London. As of August 2022, the company's AI engine was being used by around 2,500 medical practices serving approximately 16 million patients.

In August 2022, Deontics entered into a partnership with DXS International, a healthcare information and clinical decision support systems provider based in Leicestershire, England. Through this partnership, DXS integrated Deontics' AI engine into their DSX platform, aiming to save clinicians' time, help with decision fatigue, and integrate pathways into clinicians' workflows – objectives considered critical in healthcare. The integration allows DXS to offer additional features and functions to its customers, including advanced third-generation clinical decision support and advanced analytics.
