Swedish startup Jetson is focused on the development of eVTOL aircraft. Its flagship eVTOL aircraft, the Jetson ONE, is a lightweight one-seater that does not require a pilot’s license in the US. The company was slated to open operations in the US in 2023.
The Jetson One is an eVTOL aircraft designed for urban air mobility made of composite carbon fiber and cutting-edge 3D printed components. It features a sleek and futuristic design, incorporating advanced technologies to deliver a safe and efficient flying experience. The aircraft is powered by eight electric motors, enabling it to take off and land vertically, eliminating the need for traditional runways. The Jetson ONE features a race-car-inspired safety cell designed to protect the pilot. It is engineered to ensure the safety of the pilot even in the event of a motor failure, as it can sustain continuous flight with the loss of one motor. Additionally, the aircraft has an auto-land function and multiple safety features that aim to safeguard the pilot in emergency situations. Priced at USD 120,000+, the flight can fly for ~20 mins at a top speed of 102 kmph. As of October 2024, orders were being taken for 2026.
In October 2024, Jetson concluded what the company claimed was the world's first single-seat eVTOL freestyle flight for its Jetson ONE aircraft.
